Two memes are making the rounds, and since I apparently have nothing better to do, here they are.
First, via
dryponder, the 2007 meme:
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Can't think of a thing. Mine is a monotonous existence.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn't make any. Have considered making a few and posting them here, but I know that I won't keep them in all likelihood so no.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My youngest sister-in-law. She's expecting twins now. Fertile, isn't she?
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.
5. What countries did you visit?
Ha ha. I've never been out of the mainland 48.
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Money. Respect. Peace of mind. Sex. A personally fulfilling job. Only kidding about two of these.
7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Can't think of one. See #1.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Remaining upright.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Remaining upright.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, only a cold or two. My wife broke her ankle in February.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Hm. Can't think of anything in particular. A comic, perhaps, or CD or DVD. I bought a key chain with a flashlight on the end that I think is really cool. I'm easily entertained.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Again, sorry, can't think of anybody that I know personally.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own. Bobby Petrino. My boss.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Gas, comics, food, bills.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Not much.
16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Probably "Midnight Man" by the James Gang. I came to a new appreciation of Joe Walsh's oeuvre this past year. That, or "Either Way" by Wilco.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder? Maybe just a teeny bit happier, believe it or not.
ii. Thinner or fatter? Fatter, always.
iii. Richer or poorer? Richer, in some ways, but that's always subject to change. Not "rich", by any means.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing, drawing, drinking, singing, traveling, reading, having sex, going to football and baseball games, spending time with my mother, my kids, etcetera. You know, positive things.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Same as always, I suppose.
21. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Nope.
22. How many one-night stands?
None.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
Dirt.24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not really.

Here, There and Everywhere by Geoff Emerick and Howard Massey.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Long John Baldry, via
It Ain't Easy and
Everything Stops for Tea.
27. What did you want and get?
I'm assuming for Christmas-see #25.
28. What did you want and not get?
Nothing really.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Across the Universe.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
47. Don't really remember, probably nothing special. Probably worked at the radio station, came home, watched TV, and went to sleep. Cake might have been involved at some point.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
"The act you've known for all these years".
32. What kept you sane?
As always, music. Mrs. B. All my internet acquaintances.
33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
The model that holds case #25 in Deal or No Deal...?35. Who did you miss?
Some long-unseen friends, I guess.
36. Who was the best new person you met?
When I took my latest job in April, there was a fella working there as a film stripper, and we came to be friends even though we couldn't be farther apart politically. He got fired a couple of weeks ago, not his fault.
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
Not so much I learned specifically in 2007, but just another realization that whatever future I might have hoped for myself is just not possible anymore, and I have to make the best of what I have.
