There was this Metro.co.uk poll recently that determined the "50 best horror films", and Curt Percell over at the Groovy Age of Horror blog reposted it, selecting the films he hasn't seen. Since I don't really have anything much else to write about at present, I thought it might be fun if I followed suit. So, I'll bold the ones I haven't seen. Like this.

49.Shutter. Masayuki Ochiai (2008)
50.Planet Terror. Robert Rodriguez (2007)

That's not as bad as I thought. Guess I've seen a lot of horror flicks. Needless to say, I'd put some different films on there if it was up to me.

ETA: Thanks to Tom the Dog (his list is here), I noticed that this cites the 2004 remake of Salem's Lot, which I haven't seen. I also remembered that I had seen what I thought was a real obscure flick, The Entity, years ago. So I've changed my list to reflect this.

I've seen Suspiria. It is my least favorite film of all time.

"Least" favorite, eh?

I don't know what mine would be. "Nothing But Trouble" comes to mind...

I would greatly recommend Suspiria, myself.

Juno (or was it Jason Bateman's character? I forget) liked it...

That one I haven't seen.

But Suspiria is a heady trip of over-stylised colours and gruesome death in the great Dario Argento tradition. One of his best.

(The third part of a very loose trilogy that started with Suspiria is just out this year. I have less expectations of that.)

Really? I thought it was pretty good.

Oh, you're in good company, it's always on the lists of classic horror films. I thought it was an unbelievable bore, myself, and not remotely frightening. But that soundtrack was the most annoying thing I've ever heard.

Wow, I've only seen 10 of those films.

Mag

And, for the record, I believe I have seen all but 6 of them.

Shouldn't #50 be Grindhouse? Listing Planet Terror on its own is sort of like listing the different segments from Creepshow separately.

Well, it was released as a separate entity on DVD- that's how I saw it.

I was reading your list backward -- I thought the bold ones were the only ones you HAD seen. Now it makes more sense to me.

I'm stealing this list for my blog today. We've both seen 40! Not bad.

Please don't see Final Destination. If you do you'll be like one of those characters that actually go into the house, when they shouldn't. It's a silly, silly movie.
